A Study on the Views on Alcohol, Drinking Patterns and Problem Drinking of Women in Some Area

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify among the views on alcohol, drinking patterns and problem drinking in women.
Method: Data were collected by questionaires from 477 the women in some area. The instruments used for this study were Views on alcohol, Drinking patterns, CAGE(Ewing. A, 1984), AUDIT(WHO). The data were analyzed using
descriptive statistics.
Results: The mean score of positive views on alcohol is 2.28 and the mean score of negative views on alcohol is 3.23. Among alcohol dependent people who answered ’yes’ on more than 2 variables out of 4 CAGE variales
are 12.5% of the subjects. Problem drinkers with more than 8 points from AUDIT are 33.7% of the subjects.
Conclusion: The result of this study suggests that the program would be required to maintain the atmosphere to improve drinking culture and to develop for drinking prevention education and implementation.
